FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The ESPNBoston.com draft preview was held Sunday for the sixth straight season at Gillette Stadium, and it was nice to connect with many passionate Patriots fans. Attendance was close to 1,000 in the Putnam Club.
Doors opened at 1 p.m., and the official program began 45 minutes later with me and Patriots Hall of Famer Troy Brown on stage. We touched on topics that included the forecast for the 2016 Patriots, the team’s three Hall of Fame finalists (CB Raymond Clayborn, RB Kevin Faulk, LB Mike Vrabel), and our book.
When I asked Troy on stage what message he’d like to leave the audience with, he discussed the importance of helping others. He told the story of how he received a $500 scholarship to Lees-McRae Junior College, and if not for that scholarship, he might never have been in this position.
After about 20 minutes of discussion with Troy, it was time for the main program.
ESPN’s Trey Wingo was the host, and he welcomed me and ESPN college football analyst Trevor Matich on stage. We discussed many of the Patriots’ offseason moves, before getting into a draft-based discussion on some prospects who might be of interest to the team.
Look for some of those videos to be posted on ESPN.com’s Patriots page in the coming weeks.
Finally, the day ended with Troy signing copies of the book.
