With the 2016 NFL regular-season schedule released on Thursday, and word that the Patriots would be opening the season on the road against the Cardinals (Sept. 11, 8:30 p.m. ET), it sparked good sports-talk radio discussion.
Along those lines, shortly after 3 p.m. ET on Friday I received a text message from a producer of the Burns & Gambo Show on AZ Sports in Phoenix, asking if I was available to come on for an interview anywhere between 5:30-8 p.m. ET.
This is commonplace, and sometimes the timing works. This was one of those days.
We had a low-key evening planned at home, so I was happy to fill the request on AZ Sports, which is an ESPN affiliate.
There was a healthy part of the discussion spent on quarterback Tom Brady and his status for the first four games of the regular season. We touched on defensive end Chandler Jones, the Patriots’ injury situation, and then had some fun at the end when the topic was offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper.
I mentioned that I wouldn’t be surprised if Cooper, the former Cardinal, emerges with the Patriots. Burns & Gambo (a.k.a. Dave Burns and John Gambadoro) are convinced it won’t happen.
We agreed to revisit the topic in the future.
