BRISTOL, Conn. — A reporter never knows when a story might break. On Monday, as a three-day NFL Nation meeting was beginning at ESPN, word came down that the U.S. Court of Appeals had reinstated Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.

What happened next?

The answer to that was detailed on ESPN’s “Front Row” blog.

It was a day that I thought would be filled with training and meetings as part of our annual gathering on ESPN’s campus. Instead, I was pulled away and ultimately did eight television segments and one radio segment.

Bill Belichick sometimes talks about the importance of players being able to adjust on the fly. This was the media version of that concept.
