The Patriots selected nine players in the 2016 NFL Draft, and the new players have created a fresh topic to dissect and digest. Along those lines, I enjoyed making an appearance on sports radio WEEI on Monday, speaking with hosts Dale Arnold, Michael Holley and Jerry Thornton.
One of the hot topics was the selection of NC State quarterback Jacoby Brissett and what led the Patriots to look in his direction. Connections to Charlie Weis and Bill Parcells, along with Brissett’s physical makeup and high-end intangibles, were mentioned as reasons.
We went through a few of the other picks, and then ended with some thoughts on Roger Goodell, Robert Kraft and Deflategate.
Audio of the segment can be heard here.
And for those interested in going a bit further back, on Saturday, I talked about the first two days of the draft on sports radio WEEI in Providence with Jeff Kolb and Nick Coit. One of the cool parts about that segment was that Georgia WR Malcolm Mitchell was mentioned as a player I thought could be a good pick for the team … then it happened at No. 112.
